Stoneweg expands Board of Directors and strengthens leadership team with the appointment of CFO and CIO

Stoneweg group has added three Directors to its Board, and appointed Yvan Mermod and Rafael Cerezo to the newly created roles of CFO and CIO respectively. It follows a strong period of growth since Stoneweg’s inception in 2015, and the arrival of these highly experienced industry professionals is a significant milestone as it embarks on the next stage of its ambitious growth plans.

The three new Board Directors are:

  • Simona Terranova (pictures above), the founder of MT Finance, a Geneva-based company active in regulatory and risk management consulting. Mrs Terranova was previously Director at PWC and subsequently Partner at Deloitte, with more than 20 years’ experience in auditing, and her knowledge of the Swiss and European financial community will be an important asset for Stoneweg.
  • Clarence Peter, an established and experienced lawyer and senior partner at Kellerhals Carrard, where he advises numerous national and international companies on commercial and corporate law.
  • Yvar Mentha, one of the Partners of BRP (Bizzozero & Partners), a Swiss and cross-border regulatory consulting firm. Before joining BRP, Mr. Mentha worked for more than 20 years including 15 years in various managerial positions with a major Geneva-based private bank. He is a renowned expert in the institutional field in Switzerland.

Alongside this, Yvan Mermod and Rafael Cerezo have been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Stoneweg Group, effective immediately. 

Based in Geneva, Mr. Mermod will be responsible for overseeing the Group’s accounting and financial activities as well as the compliance aspects of the various regulations. With more than 25 years’ experience, Mr. Mermod was previously a Partner at KPMG Switzerland, where he oversaw the Investment Management sector for French speaking Switzerland. He is especially knowledgeable on regulatory requirements and corporate governance (risk management, processes and internal controls).

Mr. Cerezo will be based in Madrid and be responsible for the development of the Group’s investment strategies, including through new discretionary mandates. Rafael Cerezo began his career in Barclays Plc and subsequently worked for more than 15 years at M&G Investments. He was based in London as a senior investor and fund manager within M&G’s restructuring and special situations team, most recently as co-head of the business. Mr. Cerezo brings a deep knowledge and understanding of the capital markets to Stoneweg.
